Hello good people, thank you for joining me for season 2. Today I would like to focus on the property of differences. Are all humans truly unique? I mean I know that Brad Pitt told us all in that fighty- soapy movie we are unique, but how unique is unique. What degree of difference is needed to say I am my own person?

What is it Marcus? Oh you have the boards all set up? Excellent . And the llamas are saddled? What about the Roman candles? Whoowhew sounds like it is time for brunch. What no, I will not be party to that debauchery. When they arrive we will have.. Mimosas.

Now where were we? Oh yeah, the correct arrival time for a party.

Different cultures see time differently. For instance in Spain they have their evening repast near midnight. I rarely eat that late, unless I am awake. Niche was German and said that time is a flat circle, but that is a gentleman that loved a pocket watch.

But returning closer to home in regard to soirees as a southern gentleman I feel that five minutes before is on time for most social engagements. My wife counters that if she is in the same month the invite mentions then we are well within the time constraint.

So how do you know when to arrive? there are a variety of variables that come into play that can give you clues.

For instance, Is this a structured event? Will anyone’s name be changed? Was a tent rented? Will anyone be anointed with any liquids?

Besides perhaps a splash of Cold Duck on the dance floor. I’d say 15 minutes before anyone raises their hands or asks you to mute anything. Phones, children, Cousin Raymond. Those you want to adhere to a stricter timeline.

Another clue could be If there is a breakdown of when things happen, say 7 is the cocktail hour at 8.15 we will begin the harvest of the souls. Time gets a little more elastic. That first activity is to ease friction. But don’t miss that soul part, exciting.

Yet another clue could be the name of the event or even the first letter. Say if it starts with a “B” A bash a binge a blowout, a bake, a bacchanalia, a bees in the trap these are your more flexible time events.

Even the ball sounds formal, formal dress but we must be fashionable late. There are some exceptions to our “B” parties. Now brisk, or either variation of the mitzvah, bat or bar. Be on time. That’s a helpful little rhyme. In fact any gathering that contains the word bar I’ll probably be there early regardless.

Thank you for stopping by good people. Alway good to have you for a sit and chat on the porch.
